Don't Buy Pet Store Lies

Pet stores will go to great lengths to convince customers their puppies are obtained from good, licensed breeders. All of the photos on this site are from USDA licensed breeders. The fact of the matter is, many USDA licensed breeders are puppy mills. USDA standards are minimal and all too often, the rules are not enforced. The moms and dads of pet store puppies live their entire lives in small wire-bottomed cages. Dogs in mills have had little social interaction and in many cases, do not receive regular veterinary care. Female dogs are forced to produce litter after litter and when their bodies are used up, they are disposed of. At 8 weeks puppies are bought by brokers, cleaned up, and shipped all across the country. Puppies from Minnesota mills can be traced all the way to pet stores in New York, Florida, and California. These puppies often come with health problems such as worms, upper respiratory infections, ear mites, and more. They are likely to have or develop mental health and/or genetic related issues due to poor breeding practices. Beware the pet stores listed below, they are selling puppy mill puppies.

USDA Reports show repeated violations of record-keeping regulations concerning from whom puppies were obtained, as well as violations for transporting puppies younger than the mandated age of 8 weeks (a more comprehensive report shows that violations for transporting underage pups go back as far as 2003). The January 2008 inspection report also shows that Menning Enterprises knowingly obtained puppies from breeders who were required to be licensed but did not at the time hold valid licenses.
